Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is fucking wicked

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is the sequel to the top-down murder game with shit graphics of the same name. This game is too hard for simple people but it’s bad ass and rewarding. I like it.

I decided to use my Vita to play the game. I felt like that gave me a more close-view and control of what was going on. You will be replaying levels thousands of times but since it involves bloody brutal murder, it somehow gets old less than it sounds like it would. With that said, this game has about an hour play-limit for me before I have to put it down and go kick a Pomeranian. It will tire you.

Don’t worry – the trophy list and even hard mode is hard as fuck. I’m talking about harder than my substantially-sized-sling at 6 am when I wake up.

This time, we play as several characters. Some insane murder group guys, a cop, and we even will spend a few levels on hard ass jungle missions in NAM. You’ll be able to tell your kids about how hard it was in NAM now. I like telling people I was in NAM even though my age doesn’t correlate. I just tell them it was Agent Orange that caused my displaced-birth-year condition.

There are more levels on this game than the previous but it seems like we have a shortage on unlockable masks and stuff. Maybe I’ll get more later but each guy has like 4.

There are new abilities like shooting left and right at the same time with two guns, rolling which covers distance quickly if you know what you’re doing.

The soundtrack is intense and fits very well. I enjoyed the music more than I normally do in games – a small feat considering the 8-bit style.

The end is incredibly insane. A Republican gets elected or something and nuclear Armageddon happens. It’s strange how this conclusion adds such a dark aura to replaying the game once you’ve beat it.

I hope the series continues, but gets out of Miami. New York would be a stylistic option, or a foreign city. Tokyo!!! 8.5/10
