Since Hollywood is completely out of good ideas, they’re now going to take one of my childhood treasures, Ghostbusters, and reboot it with an all-female cast and a new story. NO.
The news all over the Web is that Ghostbusters is getting rebooted into an all-female movie. I have never hoped and prayed for a movie to fall through so much. The 1980s movie was good because Bill Murray was such a great ad-libber, on top of a perfect story that was uniquely good to the actors.
Now, Sony (a sucky ass company devoid of creativity) will try to cash in by rebooting the franchise with chicks. Oh don’t worry though. They’re making an all-guys Ghostbusters too! They want this to be an Avengers franchise. At this point, I’m just hoping the Rapture will happen.
The movie stars Kristen Wiig as the same zany girl in every single comedy movie now because she was funny once on SNL. Also, Kate McKinnon, who is on SNL currently but despite me watching her for several hours, has never once made me laugh. Her Hillary Clinton is absolutely terrible. It is not funny, the delivery is bad and she looks nothing like that old hag. Melissa McCarthy also joins the cast as a fat lady who screams a lot and people think is funny because of it. Leslie Jones also stars as a black lady who looks mean but is self-deprecating and complimentary to white women, making her less threatening.
I’m not at all excited about that cast, despite what you may have guessed following that glowing preview.
Paul Feig is the director. The guy has made ONE film that I would call a success, that being Bridesmaids. I laughed at the movie, sure. I just don’t know how you can give this franchise to a guy who doesn’t have much to his name besides some Office episodes and Freaks and Geeks shit.
After Harold Ramis passed away, so too did my hopes for a sequel. I just didn’t want to see another movie without Egon. Now, it’s like they’re unleashed with shit ideas. Guarantee Bill Murray won’t touch it, which is going to be a sign of how poor it’ll be. Also, they got to Ernie Hudson and shut him up. He was super negative about this crap but did an about face, suddenly.
Not interested in this project. Sad that it is happening.
